Work-in-progress Wednesday - #7

I've been a busy little knitter over this quiet little week.  Only seniors are on campus right now and it is very strange and quiet.  It is nice to have some time to breathe before graduation, but at the same time I am living for that moment when I finally get to shake hands with Jane Lynch (!) and receive my diploma!

My Tadpole socks are turning out wonderfully.  I've finished one sock and started on the second. The gradient of this yarn makes it a lot of fun to knit with.  I'm not sure if I like how they feel on my feet though, I'm more of a Merino sock kind of girl.

My Gaia is progressing a little bit more slowly, but it is getting there.  I love how soft the cotton/silk/nylon blend is.

Here is the start of my break-up super duper womanly strength sweater (I'll give you more details on this later).  Why do I knit with anything other than Madelinetosh Vintage?

My spinning project has been a little neglected, but I try to give it a few minutes every day.  The Targhee really is a joy to spin with.

I hope that you are all having a great Wednesday and I hope that you also join in with WIP Wednesday with Tami's Amis.

I wanted to thank every single one of you who have been wonderful enough to support me through this really hard time.  Your comments and your love has helped me more than I can ever express.
Thank you!

  1. Oh my gosh you use such amazing yarns. I love love love the gradient of the top pair of socks, I will have to buy some of that yarn. The Madelinetosh yarn looks like a pearl its so glossy in the picture. And I bow to your spinning skills, you are so good at it, I hope I can be as good one day.

  2. Busy girl! Honestly, I don't know why anyone knits with anything other than Mad Tosh yarn, but we all do. That particular colorway is fabulous, and I hope it brings you a metric ton of joy. Early congratulations on your graduation!!!

I hope to get around to my favorite bloggers more often but this work schedule is a killer.

  8. Ohohohohohoh! I SO love the colors in you Tadpole socks. And shouldn't it be Super Duper Womanly Strength Sweater. You need to put some oomph to the title. Jane Lynch at your graduation?! AWESOME!

  10. The Targhee yarn is amazing, as are the projects shown in your other photos. It sounds as if you are at a point in your life where everything is going to change--and that, while difficult now, someday you will see this breakup as a necessary severing of the past in order to usher in your new (and better) life.

Congratulations on your graduation. I look forward to reading your posts from NC.

  12. You get. To shake hands. With Jane Lynch. *brain explodes* What an awesome way to end your undergrad career!!! All your WIPs look amazing (as usual!), and I'm totally in love with that shade of MadTosh. The socks look super-yummy, and holy cow, your Targhee is perfect! Really looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. :)

  14. Loving to see the colours of all those WIPs. The socks looks particular funky. Do you find knitting with bamboo needles is better for socks then meta ones? Currently I use metal ones and find them a bit annoying

The colours in your Tadpole socks are fantastic I love the way they sit together. Gaia is going to look fantastic. The green just makes me think of spring :)

  19. I'm another one drooling over your eye candy. Those socks are going to be so wonderful, and this is the first time I've seen such beautiful roving being spun (newby to spinning). Your spinning makes me want to get better and better at it!

  20. The yarn you are using for the sock is perfect for Wingspan! So sorry to hear about your break up. Seven years is a long time to be with someone, and with all the changes coming, things must seem very unsettled. Enjoy your upcoming graduation and a chance to meet Jane Lynch!

  21. What a time for a breakup! This is truly a time of new beginnings for you. You sound like a very strong person and I'm sure you will get through this ok - it seems like you have lots of knitters giving you support. I agree having WEBs nearby is a real comfort for just about any situation. Just knit my first project, Bandwidth, with Tosh Vintage and really is a lovely yarn. I'm hooked even though the price is way on the high end for me.

    Congratulations on your graduation!

  27. This may be a little late, but I am sorry for your difficult time. Truly, family, friends and yarn can help you through a really hard time (I know, they really helped me when I was in a similar situation!) I know I don't know you, but reading your blog leads me to believe you're a strong person with your head on straight! You'll get through just fine. With that Madeline Tosh in such a gorgeous color, how could you not???
